👩🏻‍💻 Cracking the Coding Odyssey👨🏽‍💻

Hello World!👋

The emergence of technology has attracted more and more people into the world of coding. It can feel intimidating at first, but you are not alone!

We are a group of UBC students that are interested in gaining insight into how and why people are learning to code. As second degree computer science students ourselves, we aspire to navigate the intricate and diverse coding landscape by visually showing the journeys of approximately 2,000 individuals within the FreeCodeCamp community.

Visualizations are created with data derived from FreeCodeCamp's 2021 New Coder Survey. Read more about the original survey here.

ⓘ The different motivations in the Motivations chart can be selected to further explore the dataset and see how specific subgroups of people began their coding journey!

🔥 Motivations: What were the main reasons for learning to code?

💭 Aspirations: What were the participants' career and salary goals?

🌏 Demographics: What are the participants' backgrounds?

📚 Resources: What learning resources did participants use?

💸 Cost of learning: How much did it cost to learn how to code?
